Congratulations to Guest Faculty Randy
Skinner on receiving a Best Choreography
Tony Nomination for Irving Berlin's White
Christmas.
Also on the Tony front, congratulations to
Damien Bassman (Musician) who
wrote the percussive section of the score for
the Tony nominated show Next to Normal
which received 11 nominations.
Joyce King's (Jazz Faculty)
company, JKing Dance Company, will be
performing at the Tribeca Performing Arts
Center in NYC as part of Spring Celebration
2009, a fundraiser for DanceWave on June 7 @
7:00pm. For more

Brice (Contemporary Faculty)
will be choreographing the contemporary
section for a circus show called Star
Crossed Love to be presented in June
(more details to come). His company will be
performing on May 10 at MMAC as part of the
Pushing Progress Choreographer Showcase.
Wes Veldink (Contemporary
Faculty) will be busy over the next few
months. He will be in Norway from May 6-25
setting a piece on the graduating students of
KHIO. In June he will be teaching summer
intensives for CC & Company Dance Studio in
Raleigh & for Birmingham Dance Theater from
the 19th-25th. Finally, a big congratulations
to Wes on the 20th Anniversary of the dance
school he started in his hometown of Grants Pass,
OR. To celebrate he is taking professional
dancers from NYC and LA to perform. A real
milestone! Wes will be at Steps teaching
from May 27-June 8 and then again after June
25. More travels to come. . .

The 13th century work, Golden Legend of
the Saints by Jacobus de Voragine, serves
as inspiration for Mr. Williams's new work.
The Golden Legend features portraits of
17 male saints performed by a highly
acclaimed cast of NYC dancers and
choreographers including Gus Solomons Jr.,
Jonah Bokaer, Glen Rumsey, Julian Barnett,
Chris Elam and David Parker among
others.
Music by composers Peter Kirn, George
Spears, as well as 12th century medieval
compositions, are performed live by members
of the renowned ensembles Lionheart,
Anonymous 4 and the New York Consort
of Viols. Puppets created by Eric
Wright, Lake Simons and Christopher
Williams.
