Kathy Smith trained at the Washington School of Ballet with Mary Day, the Joffrey School of Ballet and at the New York
State Dance Program in Saratoga, NY under the direction of Melissa Hayden. She also studied with Wilhelm Burmann and
Nancy Bielski at StepsŪ and was awarded a Ford Foundation Scholarship to the School of American Ballet, NYC.
She danced with Garden State Ballet, Baltimore Ballet, Miami City Ballet, North Caroline Dance Theatre and Ballet
Du Nord, Roubaix, France. Kathleen also danced in the 50th Anniversary tour of Oklahoma and in tours of Joseph and
his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Evita, A Chorus Line and Sweet Charity. Her film and television work includes
roles in ABC-TV's All My Children and Steve Binder's feature film Melissa which she also choreographed.
She has taught at the Staten Island Dance School, the American Musical & Dramatic Academy, Ballet Academy East and Ballet
Arts of Southern Westchester in New York, and at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan. She is a certified Pilates
instructor and teaches at Power PilatesŪ in NYC.
BALLET
Although geared toward the advanced beginner Kathleen's class will challenge all levels. The emphasis is on clean classical
technique with very neat footwork and strong musicality.
